In the comic books, the the group meets The Hunters, who became cannibals after food became scarce and when they discovered that people were easier to hunt than animals. It was also revealed in the books that they even resorted to eating their own children. The Hunters appearing on season 4 has been a speculation for a few months now and the group consists of five men and one woman, named Theresa. It was recently reported that actress Anissa Matlock would be appearing on the second half of the season and fans are wondering if she will be playing the part of Theresa.
Andrew Lincoln said that the final eight episodes are going to be bold, brave and exciting. Robert Kirkman told TV Guide,
“We started the season pretty hopeful and pretty optimistic. We’ll open our last half of the season pretty bleak and we’ll move them to something a little more hopeful by the end.”
The executive producer spoke to Entertainment Weekly and teased that the second half is going to be intense,
“Not only have these people lost Hershel, they lost the prison, but they also lost each other. They’re out on their own, they’re in different groups. There’s going to be a lot going on with these different people as they try to survive in the next half of the season.”
As for other characters of “The Walking Dead,” three characters from the comics will be arriving: Sgt. Abraham Ford, Rosita Espinosa and Dr. Eugene Porter. Will their stories on the show mimic the comics? Showrunner Scott Gimple told The Hollywood Reporter,
“We’re going to tell a version of the Eugene, Abraham, and Rosita comic stories, that’s what we do. I can say that their introduction will be somewhat similar to how they were introduced in the comic, which I think is a very cool thing.”
However, Kirkman told SFX that Rosita will be introduced in a somewhat different way and the reason will be revealed later in season 4.
In the comics, the trio meets Rick and the group at Hershel’s farm after the prison attack and they all head to Washington, D.C.
“The Walking Dead” season 4 will return on Feb. 9.
